Thomas (Isaiah) is born in Boston.
January 30, 1750
(OS-1/19/1749) At 6, Isaiah Thomas is apprenticed to printer Zachariah Fowle, and, after a falling out between the two, travels throughout the Colonies. He returns to Boston, reconciles with Fowle and with him publishes his first newspaper in 1770,* and his second in 1771.* Under pressure from the British occupiers of Boston, he flees to Worcester in 1775.* Thomas becomes one of the leading printers and publishers in America and a founder of the American Antiquarian Society in 1812. He dies in Worcester on April 4, 1831.
